Mount Druitt Park, Mount Druitt
Client:Â Blacktown City Council
Location: 52 Ropes Creek Rd, Mount Druitt NSW 2770
Budget: $135,000-$175,000
Project Outline
CRS was appointed the task of designing and constructing a brand new playground at Old Mount Druitt Park.Â
Located amongst residential dwellings, local tennis courts and plenty of open green space, the new playground had to cater to a large population of children of all ages and abilities. The foundation is a combination of concrete edging, wetpour rubber with soft-fall and certified playground mulch. The rubber paths branch off the surrounding concrete path, making it easier for prams and wheelchairs to get to and from play equipment. A wheelchair-accessible spinning carousel, low-level seesaw and swingset invite less-mobile children to come and play.
In the centre lays a sandstone ballast for children to practice their balancing and agility skills. Nearby, a spring-rocker seesaw and inground carousel encourage interactive play and a double-bay swingset has a Nest seat, Strap seat and Toddler seat to choose from.
The main play structure is a KliX FUSIONplay fort that can entertain up to 15 children. True to its name, the bright blue unit combines multiple play possibilities ranging from slides, pretend-play, climbing steps, walls and nets all within a small footprint.
