Albert Bamman Memorial Park, Malua Bay

Eurobodalla Shire presents as a mountainous coastal region, claimed by the traditional custodians of the Yuin Nation. The traditional inhabitants of the land endure spiritual connection with the luscious landscapes and exquisite waterways, which is transcended into a modern society through the aid of Council. The Eurobodalla Shire Council pays homage to Elders past, present, and future by actively working to preserve the Aboriginal presence and culture throughout the region.

As we reflect on the week of NAIDOC celebrations, CRS is appreciative of the chance that was given to them to collaborate with the cultures of the First Nations to provide a gathering space for their community.

The reimagination of Albert Bamman Memorial Park has been an honour for CRS, working with both Council and local Aboriginal communities to bring to life their ideas. Local Aboriginal Land Councils paired with the voice of the community, guided CRS in the development of the play space, creating a facility where locals can meet, yarn, explore and play. The reserve reflects the spiritual connection to land, incorporating its surrounds with vibrant colours to become a place to celebrate traditional culture. The inclusive play space highlights the importance of collaboration between community and local businesses, to preserve heritage and culture amongst society.
