Bill Colbourne Reserve – Doonside

Client: Blacktown City Council
Location: Adelphi Cres, Doonside NSW 2767
Budget: $310,000-$340,000

Project Outline

The brief was to upgrade Bill Colbourne Reserve to create an improved, inclusive play experience for the local community.

Project Approach

CRS was granted the task to design and construct a new play area rich in play value, with a fruity colour scheme.

The central play fort is a large KliX FUSIONplay unit that can entertain up to 25 people. The play structure is equipped with 2 slides, pommels, multiple climbing walls, nets, monkey bars, sliding poles and imagination play spots. Close by, a cluster of KliX NATURALplay trails is carefully arranged for children to hop on, balance and climb – perfect for speed and agility development. Another major draw card is a double-bay swing set with a large nest seat, strap seat and toddler seat along with an accessible spinning carousel, spring rocker and inground trampoline. Nearby, a mini basketball court attracts teens to test out their crossover dribble, free throws and 3-pointers.

The play space covers a decent-sized area consisting of playground-certified mulch, wetpour rubber, concrete paths and a concrete basketball court with wear-resistant Plexipave Acrylotex (durable acrylic coating).

Bill Colbourne Reserve has plenty on offer, making sure to entertain and stimulate children from mixed age groups and abilities.
